Clothes borrowing service

How do you dress like a queen? The Gellé Frères team has found a great new way to ensure you never wear the same dress twice.

At the very heart of the Marais, Paris’s trendiest district, a unique shop has popped up: Habibliothèque.  The name is an amalgamation of ‘habil’, the French for clothes, and ‘bibliothèque’, which means library. As the name suggests, this is a clothes library where you can borrow up to three items and renew them as often as you like.

Regular additions are made to the stock.  And if you really fall in love with one of the items, you may be able to buy it at one of four sales that the brand puts on each year.

How does it work?

The concept is simple: you pay a monthly fee of 149€ with no commitment.

For that price, you can borrow one, two or three designer pieces for as long as you like. Insurance against damage and dry cleaning is included in the price.

What type of clothes are available?

There are everyday clothes on offer at the Habibliothèque as well as handbags and jewellery. You’ll find designer pieces by brands such as Cacharel, Carvens, Kenzo and Paul&Joe.

Unlike many other sites that hire out clothes, Habibliothèque has a range of day wear, cocktail dresses and formal evening wear so you are bound to find the outfit of your dreams.

Where is Habibliothèque?

Great news! The brand has a presence at the Galeries Lafayette as well as outside Paris and if you order online you can get clothes delivered anywhere.  Thanks to a partnership with BHV and Galeries Lafayette you can try items on before you borrow them.
